The Historic Rice Mill Building

The Historic Rice Mill Building is Charleston’s most spectacular waterfront venue featuring versatile indoor and outdoor event space. Located at 17 Lockwood Drive in the City Marina Complex, the Rice Mill offers unparalleled sunset views over the Ashley River. The building’s history is as colorful as the view. Built in 1861 and on the National Register of Historic Places, it’s the only of Charleston’s three antebellum rice mills that still stands. It has also served as a seaplane terminal and a Navy minesweeper base. While the inside of the building has been extensively remodeled, the exterior hasn’t changed much over the years.
